He was predeceased by: his parents, Richard Herndon, and Edna Herndon, Sr. (Benton); his wife Ellen "Lois" Herndon; and his siblings, Wallace Herndon, James Benton Herndon, Charles Herndon and Marlene Matthews.
He is survived by: his children, Kenneth Herndon of Jefferson City, Tina Gant of Killeen, TX, Richard Herndon, II of Mexico, Veronica Herndon-Jenkins (Ariel) of St. Charles and Valencia Bell (Raymond) of Jefferson City; and his siblings, Kenneth Herndon (Phyllis) of Columbia, Donnell Herndon (Stormy) of Columbia, Ervin Herndon of Richmond, VA, Marcella Stallings of North Carolina, Denise Herndon of Columbia and Janice Herndon of Joliet, IL. He is also survived by 14 grandchildren; one great-grandchild, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
