He was predeceased by: his parents, John Vincent and Alice Hines (Ray); his grandson Shawn Michael Sumner; and his brother Robert Hines. He is survived by: his wife Carol Elaine Prior; his children, Charles Gard of Columbia, Carol Ann Sumner (John Ehrhardt) of Columbia, Dianna Lee Hines of Fulton and Cheryl Hardt (Mike) of Columbia; his sisters, Cecilia Coven of Aurora and Cindy Heil of Akron, Ohio; his grandchildren, Rory Hart, Dillion Robbins, Erika Robbins, Kyle Gilleland, Brittany Sumner, Amber Gard, Emily Rodenbaugh and Danielle DeYoung; and his great grandchildren, Lucy Rodenbaugh, Juniper DeYoung and Eloise DeYoung.
The family suggests memorials be given to the First Christian Church.
