He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert Cly and Wilma Leona Smoot (Redding); his daughter Dana Vanmeter (Smoot); his sister Phyllis Boyle; his nephews, Jeffrey and Brian Houghton; and his niece Marci Dieterich.
He is survived by: his former wife Connie Evans; his son Evan Smoot of Bloomfield; his grandchildren, Hunter, Olivia, Drew, Emma and Katy Smoot; his siblings, Richard Smoot (Nancy) and Linda Bell (Bob); his pet Smokey; his close friends, Michael and Stacy Browning of Colorado; and also, Greyson, Liam and Dean.
