With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Gertrude Fontelle Jaynes of Meadville, Missouri, born in Linneus, Missouri, who passed away on September 21, 2023 at the age of 99. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

She was predeceased by: her parents, Clyde Cleveland and Gillie Marie Alexander (Pearson); her husband Leon Harrison Jaynes; her siblings, Elwood Alexander, James Alexander and Martha Ann Woollen; and her sister-in-law Maxine Alexander.

She is survived by: her sons, Barry Jaynes (Mary Jane) of Springfield and Lee Jaynes (Jolene) of Meadville; her grandchildren, Ryan Jaynes (Gretchen) of Greenwood, Sara Reynolds (Justin) of Neosho, MO, Maggie Beall (Clinton) of Meadville and Casey Jaynes (Cassie) of Meadville; her great grandchildren, Isaac, Makenna, Caleb, Landrie Jaynes, Milen, Bo, Hayden Reynolds, Memphis, Josie Beall, Ryker and Ridger Jaynes; and her siblings-in-law, Bonnie Alexander of Linneus and Lloyd Woollen of Webb City, MO. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

“What a sad day to lose dear Fontelle but a happy day that she is in Heaven. Fontelle was our mother's best friend, and she became the "second mom" of Lynn, Audrey and me. So many memories, particularly growing up when every few months we'd have dinner at the Jaynes' or they at our house. And many New Year's Eves were celebrated with them. Mom and Fontelle and our Aunt Helen were all in the Industrious Club, and there are many memories of that, too. She made the BEST angel food cake!”
