He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles G. Adkins and Pauline Grace Adkins (Gensheer); and his sisters, Nancy Pat Adkins, Carol Ann Carpenter and Connie Woodson.

He is survived by: his wife Joan Adkins; his daughters, Jaime Baker (Andy Clevenger) and Heather Kent; his grandchildren, William Wendt, Amethyst Wendt, Haley Wendt and Ashlyn Wendt; and his siblings, Charles Adkins (Stacy), Jim Bob Adkins (TJ), Janice McNutt (Mike) and Mary Crawford (Tom). He is also survived by several nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.
