He was predeceased by: his father Howard Franklin Melton, Sr.; his former wife Naomi King; his wife Barbra Saundra Goodale; his sons, Timothy Melton and Steven Melton; his stepsons, Lee Elgin Brown and Elgy Lynn Brown; and his siblings, Noel, Benny, Vivian, Opal, Jerry Dale and Juanita.
He is survived by: his children, Anthony Melton, Michael Melton (Lori) and Tammy Melton; his grandchildren, Ansel Loring Melton, Micheal Lee Melton, Anthony Dennis Melton, Jr. and Tonya Denise Melton Gage; and his brother Charles Melton (Shirley). He is also survived by several great grandchildren.
