It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Richard A. Wilmes of Maryville, Missouri, who passed away on January 6, 2025, at the age of 91, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, George Wilmes and Gertrude Wilmes (Hiatt); his daughter Teri Redford; his grandson Joshua Redford; his siblings, Bernard Wilmes, Alfred Wilmes (Fran), Joseph Wilmes, Gerald Wilmes, Rita Stamps (Dean), Helen Joyce and Dolores Spire; and his brother-in-law Tom O'Connell.
He is survived by: his children, Randall Wilmes (Jessie), Martin Wilmes (Sandy), Kelly Wilmes (Sue), Jeffery Wilmes, Michael Wilmes (Christal), Gary Wilmes (Cheryl) and Diane Chesnut (Stan); his siblings, Raymond Wilmes (Roberta), Charles Wilmes, Phillip Wilmes (Karen), Thomas Wilmes (Sharon), Kenneth Wilmes (Marilyn), Geraldine Ulmer (Jack) and Pauline Bjournsrud; and his siblings-in-law, Cecelia Wilmes, Louise O'Connell, Donna Wilmes, Janet Wilmes, John Joyce and Paul Spire. He is also survived by eighteen grandchildren and thirty-three great-grandchildren.
A rosary was held on Thursday, January 9th 2025 at 6:00 PM at the St. Gregory Barbarigo Catholic Church (333 S Davis St, Maryville, MO 64468). A Mass of Christian burial was held on Friday, January 10th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to Mosaic Hospice.
