He was predeceased by: his parents, Walter Shields and Dorothy Shields (Larimore); his daughter Janice Jones; his sister Sybil Fers; and his grandson Alex Jones.
He is survived by: his wife Dixie "Dee" Shields; his children, Steve Shields (Cherrie), Conway, Cindy Wilson, John Shields (Jerri) and Rebecca Shields of Dogpatch, AR; and his siblings, Don Shields (Barbara), Nellie Atkinson and Ruth Herst (Gary). He is also survived by eighteen grandchildren; thirty-three great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
