We are sad to announce that on May 8, 2020, at the age of 87, Melvin Akeman Jr. (Marshall, Missouri), born in Sweet Springs, Missouri passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by: his parents, Melvin Leroy Akeman and Olive Palmer Akeman; and his sister Helen Reidenbach. He is survived by: his wife Marlene Mistler; his daughters, Janet Boland (Douglas) of Columbia, MO, Julie O'Bryan (Mike) of Marshall and Joyce Shelby (Sam) of Columbia; his grandchildren, Ashley Jones (David), Derek Boland (Nicole), Kyle O'Bryan (Alysia), Caleb O'Bryan, Connor O'Bryan and Meagan Shelby; his great grandchildren, Olivia, Zachary Jones, Hadlee Boland and Abigail O'Bryan; and his brother Billy Akeman of Kansas City, MO. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be made to New Salem Baptist Church or Blackwater R-2 School.
