He was predeceased by: his parents, Dorn Duane Simmons and Geraldine Mae Bartberger Simmons; and his sister Ruth Ann Stafford. He is survived by: his wife Brenda Swanigan; his children, Dawn Shahid (Mike Kunz) of St. Cloud, FL, Tina Brown (Scott) of Macon, MS, Camaren Hampton (Roosevelt) of Kansas City, MO, William Daniel Barber (Becky) of Marshall, Duane Michael Simmons (Kristina) of Sugar Creek, MO, Katelyn Jobeth McCollum (Wes) of Huntington Beach, CA, Cheyenne Cherry Simmons (Tyler Swift) of Marshall and Talor Kane Simmons of Kansas City, MO; and his brothers, David Simmons (Bobby) of Independence, MO and Mark Simmons (Kim) of Oak Grove, MO. He is also survived by 19 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project or Preferred Hospice in care of Campbell-Lewis Funeral Home in Marshall.
