He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, John Thornton and Matie Thornton (Phillips); his wife Marjorie Hair; his child Shirley Washburn of Centerton; and his nephew Larry Thornton (Jane) of Omaha.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made to the First Baptist Church in Republic, Missouri.
