He was predeceased by: his parents, Clyde McGowan and Agnes Lorraine McGowan (Morris); his brothers, Ray and Gene; his son-in-law Scot Othic; and his son Mitch.
He is survived by: his wife Rose Marie Smith; his children, Dennis McGowan (Cheryl), Matt McGowan (Anna), Mark McGowan, Kim Othic of Marceline and Jeanette Engelhard of Marceline; and his sisters, Anna Lieber of Denver and Patsy Gladfelder of Butler. He is also survived by fourteen grandchildren and twenty-six great grandchildren.
