She was predeceased by: her parents, Norman Shell and Rita Shell (Sample); and her siblings, Grant Shell, Bob Shell, Birk Shell, Eugene Shell, Mary Lou Whinchester, Norma Parker, JoAnn Kirkpatrick, Charleen King, Velma Bess and Barbara Juden.
She is survived by: her husband Lewis "Beaver" VanGennip; her children, Richard VanGennip and Elizabeth "Sissy" VanGennip of Marble Hill, Missouri; her sister Carol Costello; and her grandchildren, Alex VanGennip, Cara Briner, Scott Crader and Shanna Chapman. She is also survived by 12 great grandchildren.
