He was predeceased by: his parents, Peter Vlietstra and Jacoba Vlietstra (Okken); his daughter Debra Lynn Vlietstra; and his granddaughters, Susan and Sharon Vlietstra.
He is survived by: his wife Edith Nyman; his children, Martin Vlietstra (Glenda), David Vlietstra (Cory), Janice Valkenburg (Jim), Jonathan Vlietstra (Jane), Karen Van Seters (Rick), Roger Vlietstra (Beverly), Linda Velier (Jay), Daniel Vlietstra (Dawn), Paul Vlietstra (Wendy) and Steven Vlietstra (Stephanie); his grandchild Twenty; his siblings, Wilma VanderWaal, Alice Vlietstra, Joan Heerschap (Walt), Dr. Fred Vlietstra (Sue) and Fred Velitstra; and his sister-in-law Charlotte Rieder. He is also survived by Twenty-nine great-grandchildren.
