He was predeceased by: his parents, Walter Lay and Mildred Lay (Harlan); his brothers, Elmo Lay and Stanley Lay; his half-brother Lee Harlan; and his sister Melanie Faye.
He is survived by: his siblings, Pat Bond of Excello, MO, Karen Hollar of Macon, MO, Millie Marietta (Lee) of Mt. Zion, IL, Linda Falkiner of Macon, MO, Helen DeShazer (D. L.) of Macon, MO, Nancy Hoskam (John) of Excello, MO and Lentry Lay (Wanda) of Bevier, MO; and his close friend Tracy. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, in-laws and other extended family.
The family suggests memorials to the Macon County Food Pantry.
