He was predeceased by: his parents, Frank Gilliland and Lillian Gilliland (Hooker); his former wife Carolyn Smith Gilliland; and his siblings, Richard Gilliland, Pat Gilliland, Carol Lamb, Grace Smith and Nina Thomas.
He is survived by: his wife Joyce Miller Gilliland; his children, Carl Gilliland (Rhonda) of Ludlow, John Gilliland (Carrie) of Ludlow, Missouri and Sheri Dawkins (Randy) of Ludlow, Missouri; and his siblings, Dave Gilliland of Ludlow, Missouri, Mina Anderson of Omaha, Marilyn Carson of St. Joseph, Nola Zeltwanger of St. Joseph and Janice Swanson of St. Joseph, Missouri.. He is also survived by eight grandchildren; sixteen great grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Thursday, April 17th 2025 from 12:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the Lindley Funeral Home (910 Washington St, Chillicothe, MO 64601). A funeral service was held on Friday, April 18th 2025 at 1:00 PM at the Ludlow Community Church (304 St Paul Ave, Ludlow, MO 64656).
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Ludlow Community Church and/or Monroe Cemetery and may be left at or mailed to Lindley Funeral Home, P.O. Box 47, Chillicothe, Missouri 64601.
