She was predeceased by: her parents, Gustave Backes and Bertha Backes (Orscheln) of Loose Creek; her husband John Ruettgers; her sons-in-law, Daniel Kleffner and David Witte; and her siblings, Arthur Backes, Al Backes, Catherine Bescheinen, Angie Kremer and Grace Rackers.
She is survived by: her daughters, Elizabeth McCarthy (Kevin) of New Melle and Sandra Witte of Loose Creek; and her grandchildren, Doug Kleffner (Sheila), Curtis Kleffner (Jamie), Adam McCarthy (June), John McCarthy (Stephanie), Cynthia Kleffner and Monica Reed (Martin). She is also survived by 15 grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
