He was predeceased by: his parents, James W. Smith and Margaret J. Smith (Brodak); and his daughters, Tonya Marie Smith and Tracey Smith. He is survived by: his children, Ash Smith (Amy) of Washington, Jason Smith (Karlie) of High Ridge, Missouri, Sandra Smith (Matt) of St. Clair and Jessica Johnson (Brandon) of Rolla, Missouri; his grandchildren, Isaac, Harper, Kooper and Logan; and his daughters, Katana and Zamasu.
