He was predeceased by: his parents, Ralph Lonzo and Maudie Mae Goans (Hall); his stepparents, Frances Goans and John Floyd; and his siblings, Rosia Siebert and Bobby Goans.

He is survived by: his wife Joan Rustemeyer; his son Joseph Goans (Renee); his grandchildren, Lindsey of Linn and Kylie of Linn; his daughter Jennifer Tyree (Bruce); his granddaughters, Jessica of Linn, Justine of Linn and Rosa Schaefer (Rod); his great grandchildren, Christy of Jefferson City, Emma and Gracie of Linn; and his siblings, Deena Underwood (Elvin) of Sweet Springs and Richard Goans of California. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Expressions of sympathy may be made to the American Cancer Society, the American Heart Association or to St. George Catholic Church in Linn.
