He was predeceased by: his parents, Ben Brandt and Anna Brandt (Vasen); his children, Dale Brandt and Jennifer Brandt; his son-in-law Kurt Hackmann; and his brothers, Leo Brandt and Alphonse Brandt.
He is survived by: his wife Reta Keilholz; his children, Melvin Brandt (Patsy) of Chamois, Nelson Brandt (Jean) of Chamois, Marie Heston (Mark) of Keokuk, Jane Dudenhoeffer (Mark) of Linn, Linda Fick (Matt) of Linn, Patricia Haslag (Jim) of Linn and Dennis Brandt (Carol) of Chamois; his brother Bernard Brandt (Annabell) of Chamois; and his sister-in-law Bernadine Brandt of Linn. He is also survived by 19 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren.
