He was predeceased by: his parents, Carl and Ilda; his brothers, Farris, Virgil and Floyd; his wife Patricia; his son Randall; and his granddaughter Rachel.

He is survived by: his sons, Russell Hein (Debbie) and Christopher Robin (Michelle); his daughter-in-law Linda Hein of Bunceton; his sister Barbara Kienast of Cedar Rapids; his wife Betty of Prairie Home; and his stepchildren, Dwain Brown (Andrea) of Holts Summit, Regina Gauthier (Nathan) and Mary Kemna of Prairie Home. He is also survived by his cousins and grandchildren.
