She was loved and cherished by many people including: her parents, Lee Paxton and Ida Paxton (Cochran); her husband Willard Chewning; her children, Melva Jean Monteer (Randy) of La Monte, Mary Elizabeth Neal-Jerrell (Rhea) of Abilene, KS, Darryl Chewning (Cathy) of Ionia and Helen Patricia Ellis; and her grandson Daniel. She was also cherished by twenty grandchildren; several great grandchildren and many great-great grandchildren.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the American Alzheimer's Association in care of Rea Funeral Chapel.
