He was predeceased by: his parents, Wilbur Spurling and Ethel Spurling (Bogart); his wife Kim Trout; his siblings, Bobby McMechan, Randy McMechan and Carolyn Thompson; his brother-in-law Darrell Thompson; his nephew Eddie Thompson; and his niece Lavona Chapman.
He is survived by: his sons, Derrick Spurling (Kimberly Wass) of Mindenmines, MO and Daniel Spurling of Liberal, MO; his grandchildren, Jaxyn, Kasen, Lakyn and Claira Spurling; his siblings, Mike Spurling (Jeannie) of Liberal, MO and Cora Ganger of Liberal, MO; and his stepmother Velma Spurling of Liberal, MO..
