He was predeceased by: his parents, Clyde Copenhaver and Corda Lee Copenhaver; and his brothers, Elbert and Allen. He is survived by: his spouse Joan Adelle Truitt; and his sons, Gary Copenhaver (Barb) of Lexington and Bruce Copenhaver (Gayle) of Lexington. He is also survived by three grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
