She was predeceased by: her parents, Andrew Aszmus and Lucy Lea Feeback; and her husband Gene Herman. She is survived by: her daughter Janet Herman Franklin of Lee's Summit, MO; her grandsons, Jeffrey Herman Franklin (Jeff) and John Hall Franklin Jr. (Jack) of Kansas City, MO; her sister-in-law Joan Bretell of Melbourne, FL; her stepsister Bonnie Honn of Harrisonville, MO; and her caregiver Dawn Schweigerdt. She is also survived by her nieces, nephew and many cousins.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to either of the following which were important to Joyce: Community Services League of Independence or National Multiple Sclerosis Society.
