It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Harold L. Finch (Lees Summit, Missouri), who passed away on January 8, 2023, at the age of 89, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Milford Finch and Katherine Finch; his siblings, Gordon Finch and Barbara Finch; and his grandson Caleb Finch.
He is survived by: his wife Peggy Thompson; his children, Mark Finch (Ann), Greg Finch (Pam) and Susan Ruiz (José); his grandchildren, Bethany Lee (Chris), Emily Parker (David), Jonathan Finch, William Finch, Aliya Finch and Sophia Ruiz; his great grandchildren, Jaxon Lee, Alexa Lee and Aniston Lee; his sister-in-law Sharon DeMoss; and his nieces and nephews, Kim Sego, Melanie DeMoss, Ron Finch and Kevin Finch.
His most significant and enduring contribution to science was his invention of the "Barbecue Roll," the computerized system that created a controlled rolling action for the Apollo spacecraft.
