She was predeceased by: her parents, Hilburn Nixon and Alma Nixon (Rupard). She is survived by: her daughter Mary Lee Long; her sister Pat Hixson; and her cousins, Doli Jones and Robert Gustafson. She is also survived by extended family and friends.

In lieu of flowers family suggest contributions to be made to Children's Mercy Hospital, where Barbara volunteered and held close to her heart.
