She was predeceased by: her parents, Arthur Schneider and Leslie "Lourean" Schneider (Wood); her grandparent grandmother Schneider (grandfather Schneider); her husband Richard Dean Shamel; and her siblings, John Schneider, Conrad Schneider and Melba Esther.
She is survived by: her sister Berneice Hamilton; her children, Karen Griffin (Mike), John Shamel (Linda), Ronald Shamel and Nancy Oudin (Marc); her grandchildren, Jeff Kile (Ashley), Brock Shamel (Daryl), Edouard Oudin (Kayla) and Caroline Pollard (David); and her great grandchildren, Jocelyn, Cullen Kile, Ellie, Brooks Shamel and Madeline Pollard.
Visitation was held on Saturday, January 11th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Shadel's Colonial Chapel (1001 Lynn St, Lebanon, MO 65536). A funeral service was held on Saturday, January 11th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
During her work career, Bernita received multiple awards and recognitions for her contributions to the insurance industry.
