Basil Webb Jr. Obituary

Basil Truman Webb, Jr., age 95, longtime resident of Laurie, passed away Sunday morning, August 25, 2019, at the Laurie Care Center. He was born June 10, 1924, in Grain Valley, Missouri, the only son of Basil Truman Sr., and Grace May Gosney Webb. On January 9, 1989 Truman was united in marriage to Jimmie Faye Simpson Runner and she survives at the Laurie Care Center.

Truman was an Army Air Force veteran, serving his country during World War II, as a B-17 Ball Turret Gunner receiving his honorable discharge on February 22, 1946. He was an accomplished carpenter, contractor and architect, building houses, buildings, bridges, roads and boats from Florida to Missouri. He was a third degree Mason and referred by his daughter and friends as a modern Renaissance man.

He loved laughter, travel, hunting, woodworking, and fried catfish! Prior to his military service, Truman visited what is now Laurie and fell in love with the area, promising to return and make it his permanent home. A man true to his word, he purchased water front property off O road and proceeded to develop the land creating his home and a beautiful landscape to attract people to his beloved Lake of the Ozarks.

In addition to his wife, Jimmie Faye, Truman is survived by his daughter, Nancy Webb of Santa Monica, California ;one grandson, Mark Webb of Berkeley, California; two step daughters and their families, along with several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Truman was preceded in death by his beloved parents Grace & Basil, three sisters, Vey Norris, Delma Ford and Irene Binns.

The family will receive friends from 1:30 p.m. - 2:00 p.m. Saturday, August 31, at the Scrivner-Morrow Funeral Home in Versailles with a Celebration of Truman's' life beginning at 2:00 p.m.
