He was predeceased by: his parents, Eva Leona Shewmaker (Fuqua) and Clyde Shewmaker; his siblings, James Shewmaker, Danny Shewmaker, John Shewmaker, Warren Shewmaker, Harold Shewmaker, Norma Jean Hackley, Rena Mae Hunt and Virginia Wilson (Gigi); and his granddaughter Kennedy Butrum.
He is survived by: his former wife Victoria Lynn Thornton; his wife Vicki L. Shewmaker (Thornton); his children, Joe D. Shewmaker of Blue Springs, Missouri and Kari L. Butrum (Blake) of Sugar Creek, Missouri; and his grandson Branton R. Butrum. He is also survived by other relatives and many, many friends.
