He was predeceased by: his parents, Louis Joseph and Fannie Wiss (Bolton); his daughter Debra Wiss; his grandson Joseph Louis Welch; and his siblings, Leslie Wiss (Maxine), Calvin Wiss (Bernice), Carol Wiss, Donald Wiss (Genieva), David Wiss and Dolly Dothage (Elger).
He is survived by: his wife Janet Wiss; his children, Michael Wiss (Julie) of Laddonia, Shirley Welch (Kevin) of Laddonia and Dan Wiss (Amy) of Canton, Georgia; his grandchildren, Travis Wiss of Granite City, Matt Wiss (Samantha) of Louisiana, Katie Wiss of Colorado, Austin Welch (Jessica) of Montgomery City, Nick Welch of Laddonia, Tyler Wiss of Canton, Macey Wiss of Canton and Dannielle MacDuff of Ohio; his sister-in-law Myrna Wiss of Warrenton, Missouri; and his nieces and nephews, Norma Jean Wiss and Leslie "Butch" Wiss. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
