He was predeceased by: his parents, Ernest Clarkson and Lucille Clarkson (McClanahan); his brother Ivan Clarkson (Gail); and his grandson Nicholas Clarkson. He is survived by: his wife Donna Coy; his sons, Terry (Tresa) and Scott (Bonnie); his grandchildren, Timothy (Jessie), Brent (Amanda) and Alexandria "Lex" Kilgore (Mike); his great grandchildren, Cohen, Atalie, Gunner, Mikaela, Oliver, Liam, Haylee, Emma, Cash and Jaydn; his brother Duane Clarkson (Jolene); and his siblings-in-law, Sandra Lay, Karen Osborn and Carlos Coy (Karen). He is also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Memorials in memory of Gary may be made to La Plata Community Mausoleum, Hospice of Northeast Missouri, or La Plata Nursing Home Activities Fund.
