He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles W. Opfer and Edna Opfer (Reynolds); his sister Barbara; his nephew Jason Dale Opfer; and his grandparents, James B., Edna, Mae Reynolds (Coates), Herman A. and Emma Opfer.

He is survived by: his siblings, Charles Opfer of La Monte, MO, Betty Wood of Sedalia, MO, David Opfer (Dana) of Alton, IL and Brenda Opfer of La Monte, MO. He is also survived by eight nieces and nephews and several great nieces and nephews.
