He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Anthony Czerniak and Dorothy Czerniak (Lorance); his wife Nancy Czerniak; his children, James Czerniak Jr. (Wanda) of Altus, Oklahoma, Tracy Goldsmith (Dave) of Plainfield, Indiana and Tim Czerniak (Nicole) of Plainfield, Illinois; his grandchildren, Ashley Czerniak, Eain Goldsmith, James Joseph Czerniak III, Mikaela Goldsmith, Emily Czerniak, Connor Czerniak, Corey Goldsmith and Kyle Goldsmith; his pet Sandy; and his brothers, Larry Czerniak (Sue) of Cedarville, Ohio, Michael Czerniak (Hernie) of Casper, Wyoming, Jeff Czerniak of Highland, Indiana and Dan Czerniak (Karin) of Blue Springs, Missouri. He was also cherished by 12 nieces and nephews.
