Matt Matthews wrote a sympathy message

“I met Steve Schmid when we were both college-age and I visited brother Leo at the Schmid family home in the summers. Those times were always full of fun and laughter and Stevie was always right in the middle of it with a quick witted comment or a joke that kept everyone laughing. He loved life and was one of my favorite people – and I know I was one among many who felt the same way. He left us way too soon and will be missed by all of us. Prayers and sympathy to the family. - Matt Matthews”
