He was loved and cherished by many people including: his mother Church; his children, Richard Kern, Lawrence Kern (Helene), Nancy Farmer (Richard) and Karen Kern; his grandchildren, Lindsey, Laurie (Andrew), Leisa (Jack), Stephen, David, Julia (Vincent), Abigail, Josiah, Arianna (Myles), Jeremiah, Rebekah and Zachariah; his great grandchildren, Barrett, Bailey, Tate, Tucker and Silver; and his wife Elinor. He was also cherished by his four children, 12 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren and 1 sister and brother-in-law.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Paralyzed Veterans of America or The Joshua Chamberlain Society.
