He was predeceased by: his parents, Gerhard Nicholas and Ellen Marie Weerts (Lindeburg); his spouse Mary F. Perry; and his brother William Weerts. He is survived by: his children, Lawrence Weerts of Kirksville, Andrew Weerts of Junction City, Oregon, Lynn Stephenson (Randall) of Gulf Shores and Christie Scott-Hamblin (Chris) of Council Bluffs, Iowa. He is also survived by ten grandchildren and one great grandchild.
In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to the Alzheimer's Association.
