With profound sadness, we say goodbye to Karen Sue (VanLaningham) Lawson of Kirksville, Missouri, whose vibrant spirit touched the lives of many. Karen Sue left this world on January 30, 2025 at the age of 80, leaving a void in the lives of so many people. You can send your sympathy in the guestbook provided and share it with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Dee Jonas and Hester Emily VanLaningham (Ewing); and her siblings, Murrell VanLaningham, Bob VanLaningham, Carl VanLaningham, Sophie VanLaningham, Louise Johnston and Jessie Asher.
She is survived by: her husband Duane Leon Lawson; her son Joe Schmitter (Teresa) of Columbia, MO; her stepson David Lawson (Tina) of Kirksville, MO; her sister Jeanetta Chrisman (Duane) of Kirksville, MO; her grandchildren, Ben Lawson, Maddie Bell, Gretchen Schmitter and Kyra Schmitter; and her great grandchildren, Natalee Bell, Genevieve Bell, Hanes Bell and Charlotte Lawson. She is also survived by nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Visitation was held on Sunday, February 2nd 2025 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at the Chapel of Travis-Noe Funeral Home (1008 W Potter Ave, Kirksville, MO 63501). A funeral service was held on Sunday, February 2nd 2025 at 1:00 PM at the same location.
