He was predeceased by: his parents, Dee VanLaningham and Hester "Emma" VanLaningham (Ewing); his wife Linda Bartlett; and his siblings, Robert VanLaningham, Jessie Asher, Louise Johnston, Merle and Sophia.
He is survived by: his daughter Cindy VanLaningham of Bevier, Missouri; his granddaughter Dalis; and his sisters, Jeanetta Chrisman (Duane) of Kirksville and Sue Lawson (Duane) of Kirksville. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
