He was predeceased by: his parents, Oku Underwood and Mary Underwood (Browning). He is survived by: his wife Judith Underwood (Short); his children, Tim Underwood (Karla), Jeff Underwood (Sandi) and Michele Underwood (Mike Marvin); his grandchildren, Nicole Hock (Matthew) and Nathan Underwood (Kristin); and his great grandchildren, Nik, Logan, Kody, Rylee, Lexi and Kam. He is also survived by one brother; three sisters.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to Powell Gardens, Kansas City's Botanical Garden as addressed above.
