He was predeceased by: his parents, Marjorie Ruth Libby (Williamson) and William Keith Costa; and his stepfather Harold Libby. He is survived by: his wife Karen; his daughters, Angela Gotz Costa (Jesse), San Diego and Cynthia Costa (Tim Bettega) of Prairie Village; and his sisters, Leslie Stull of Horse Heads, Nancy Price (Bill) of Dexter and Beverly Frost (Steve) of Corinth.
