He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Robert Rainey and Doris Rainey (Smothers); his wife Janice Bucher; his sister Gina Rainey; his children, Angie Gregory (Deano), Michael Rainey, Jeremy Laun, Kimberlee Rainey (Shaun) and Lonnie Rainey (Michelle); and his siblings, Marty Rainey (Angela) of Charlotte, NC, Ritha Richardson (Cornell) and Shiela Howe (Phillip). He was also cherished by six grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
