Shirlene Grays-Pegues Obituary
Shirlene Grays Pegues, 73, was a devoted wife, incredible mother/grandmother, loving sister/family member, and a thoughtful friend.
Shirlene was born September 18, 1948, in Bragg City, MO, and graduated this life on March 5, 2022, at 11:44 a.m. in Memphis, TN.
Shirlene loved the Lord with all her heart and treated everyone she met with kindness. In addition, she poured herself into her family and church family.
Shirlene served as a praise and worship leader, soloist, choir member, and Sunday School teacher in the church. In addition, she was a Church Mother, Pastor's Aid Leader, church up-keeper & interior decorator, and anything else she put her hands to. She loved to sing and never attended a church service without her tambourine.
Aside from church, most know her from North Pemiscot High School (class of 1966) or the fifteen years she worked for Wal-Mart in Kennett, MO (1978-1993). She was an excellent seamstress, cook, and most notably a baker. Consequently, she received many requests for her sweet baked treats.
Shirlene was preceded in death by her loving parents, Mon T. Grays Sr., and Fannie Mae Grays of Bragg City, MO. Her siblings: MaryAnn Grays, Ralph Grays Sr., and Latricia Grays. Furthermore, Shirlene has been reunited with her oldest child, Saundra Carol Norris and her oldest grandson, Adrian Keith Moore.
Left to grieve her passing, yet celebrate her life is her husband, Willie Lee Pegues of Kennett, MO. Her daughters: Sarita Grays and Dianna Pegues of Blytheville, AR, and Jennifer Alsobrook (Archie II) of Memphis, TN. Her son: Stephen Pegues (Lindsay) of Caruthersville, MO - four grandchildren, Sheryl Moore, Dennis Moore Jr., Alicia Grays, and Terrance Shearns. She also leaves behind four great-grandchildren, three siblings, Mon T. Grays Jr. (Eria) of Kennett, MO, Geneva Johnson (Willie) of Jonesboro, AR, and Lendale Grays Sr. of Wardell, MO - plus a host of other family members, friends, and acquaintances.
