He was predeceased by: his parents, Clyde Matthews and Millie Matthews (Landren); his former wife Hope Bateman; and his wife Mattie Webb. He is survived by: his sister-in-law Edith Plunk of Collierville; his nephew Keith Bateman; and his nieces, Phyllis Bateman Copher, Kay Bateman Fletcher, Theresa Bateman Gatewood, Karen Stafford and Marieda Bateman Lawrence.
