He was predeceased by: his parents, Louis Essner and Leona Scherer Essner; his wife Stella Stone; his son Robert "Bob" Essner; his siblings, Bill, Paul, Theon Essner, Georgianna Essner and Mary Kathrine Mills; and his grandsons, Travis Steven and Shannon Paul Gentry.
He is survived by: his daughter Dorothy DeBrock (Melvin) of Kelso; his brother Eugene Essner of Manasses, Virginia; his grandchildren, Courtney Hilse (Adam), Justin Gentry (Ashley) and Adam Gentry; and his great grandchildren, Kyndahl, Kaelyn Hilse, Dayton, Makenna Gentry, Dawson and Briar Gentry.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 26th 2025 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Calendar Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel - Scott City (115 W Hickory St, Scott City, MO 63780). A prayer will be held on Wednesday, February 26th 2025 at 6:30 PM at the same location. A Mass will be held on Thursday, February 27th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the Calendar St. Augustine Catholic Church (201 Messmer St, Kelso, MO 63758).
