It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Jerry Leon Helms of Kearney, Missouri, born in Bethany, Missouri, who passed away on November 9, 2024, at the age of 81, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Reverend Dewey C. Helms and Stella. He is survived by: his wife Joy Kratzer; his daughters, Gina Kaut (Jason) and Nikki DeFries; his grandchildren, Brooke Higgins (Colby), Brittany Assel (DeAndre) and Raven DeFries; and his great grandchildren, Allen James, Olive, Elijah, Reece and Adaya. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and other extended family.
Visitation was held on Saturday, November 23rd 2024 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Fry-Bross & Spidle Funeral Home (208 S Jefferson St, Kearney, MO 64060). A funeral service was held on Saturday, November 23rd 2024 at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Jerry's name to St. Jude Children's Hospital.
