He was predeceased by: his parents, Howard Oren Thomas and Veda Marie Leighton Thomas; his former wife Rose K. Thomas (LaSala); his wife Sharon Thomas; his brother Howard "Paul" Thomas; his grandson Austin Haggard; and his brothers-in-law, John LaMontaine, Douglas Eades, Don McGoldrick and Ralph "Lonnie" Switzer.
He is survived by: his children, Master Sergeant Justin Thomas (Kim) and Michelle Thomas of Kansas City, MO; his sisters, Debby LaMontaine and Cathy Richardson (Dan); his sisters-in-law, Mary Sue Thomas, Maria Eades, Georgia McGoldrick, Phyllis Switzer, Virigina LaSala and Patricia Mantel (Jim); his granddaughters, Channing Eckhardt (Josh) and Makenzie Thomas; his stepdaughters, Jennifer Gant (Jason) and Samantha Goldenstein; and his stepgrandchildren, Samara, Weston and Kaleb Gant. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Friday, March 28th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM. A funeral service was held on Saturday, March 29th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the Fry-Bross & Spidle Funeral Home (208 S Jefferson St, Kearney, MO 64060). A burial was held on Saturday, March 29th 2025 at the Mt. Olivet Cemetery (201 State Rte 92, Kearney, MO 64060).
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the ASPCA, the VFW, or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, all charities that Mr. Thomas regularly supported.
