He was predeceased by: his parents, Alonzo Sissel and Juanita Sissel; and his stepdaughter Marcia McElroy. He is survived by: his wife Janet; his children, Rhonda VanVacter and Ron Sissel; his grandsons, Tyler and Jacob VanVacter; and his stepchildren, Chris McElroy and Craig McElroy.
