He was predeceased by: his parents, Roy Vanderpool and Dorothy Vanderpool (Nichols); his wife Gloria Vanderpool; his siblings, Jesse Vanderpool, Marvin Vanderpool, Betty Renaue and Elsie Vanderpool; and his stepson David Smoot.
He is survived by: his children, Gene Vanderpool, Kimberly Smoot and Cari Vanderpool; his stepchildren, Chris Smoot, Allen Smoot, Tom Smoot and Tammy Smoot; and his siblings, Charlie Vanderpool and Evelyn Hager.
