He was predeceased by: his parents, Lawrence David Cooley and Betty Jo Cooley; his parents-in-law, Elmer Davis and Nancy Davis; his son Gary Lee Cooley; his brothers, Randall Ray Cooley (Randy) and Lawrence David Cooley Jr. (Davey); his brothers-in-law, Gary Lee Davis, James Thomas Davis and John Richard Bullard Jr.; and his niece Jennifer Rae Davis.
He is survived by: his wife Carol Ann Cooley; his sons, John J Cooley Jr. (Buffie Lynn Cooley) and Jason David Cooley (Cheri' Dawn Cooley); his sisters, Cynthia Jo Simmons and Rebecca Gaye Morgan; and his siblings-in-law, Larry Edward Davis, Michael Eugene Davis, Kevin Arnold Morgan, Stachia Jean Davis (Jeanne), Sheila Kay Davis and Terri Lynn Bullard. He is also survived by eight grandchildren; and four great grandchildren.
